Kagando Hospital

A faith-based healthcare institution founded in 1965 by the Africa Inland Mission under Dr. Carl Becker. Kagando Hospital has grown into one of the leading faith-based healthcare institutions in Western Uganda.

Our Biblical Foundation

Kagando Hospital is a leading faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare institution located in Kasese District in the Rwenzori Region of Western Uganda. The hospital is owned by the South Rwenzori Anglican Diocese and is firmly grounded in Christian values of compassion, service and integrity.  Committed to providing affordable, quality and compassionate healthcare, Kagando Hospital integrates clinical excellence with community transformation through education, outreach and sustainable development initiatives.

Kagando Hospital is strategically located in Kasese, western Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and within proximity to major conservation and tourism ecosystems, including Queen Elizabeth National Park, Rwenzori Mountains National Park and Cross-border communities along the Uganda–DRC frontier. This unique location places the hospital at the intersection of high population mobility, cross-border health risks and conservation-related health needs.

To serve and empower communities through the promotion of quality healthcare, education, and spiritual development.

To be a centre of excellence in the provision of quality and compassionate healthcare.

Kagando Hospital Integrated Service Delivery Model

The Kagando Hospital Integrated Service Delivery Model is a holistic framework that combines clinical care, faith-based values, community development, education and strategic positioning to deliver high-impact health services across the Rwenzori region and neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The model represents a unified approach to healthcare and community transformation. It leverages strategic location, institutional partnerships, faith-based values, and integrated programming to deliver sustainable, high-impact health services across Western Uganda and the DRC border region.

Through this model, Kagando Hospital delivers coordinated, people-centred services that strengthen health systems, improve equity, and generate measurable population health impact.

Strategic and Comprehensive Healthcare Delivery

Kagando Hospital provides comprehensive healthcare services across Kasese district and neighbouring communities through an integrated service system designed for accessibility, responsiveness, and continuity of care.

This approach has demonstrated measurable impact in:

  • Expanding access to healthcare across border and rural communities
  • Strengthening epidemic preparedness and disease outbreak response systems
  • Protecting high-risk occupational groups in conservation and tourism settings
  • Improving emergency and referral care outcomes in remote and underserved areas

Faith-Based and Values-Driven
Care Model

Rooted in the mission of the South Rwenzori Diocese of the Anglican Church of Uganda, Kagando Hospital operates as a Christian institution committed to serving vulnerable and underserved populations with dignity and compassion.

The service delivery model is guided by core principles that shape all aspects of care:

  • Compassionate and patient-centred healthcare delivery
  • Equity and universal access to affordable services
  • Holistic care addressing physical, mental, and community wellbeing
